Kazi Ahmed, Founder, President and CEO
Since coming to the United States from Bangladesh in 1976, Kazi Ahmed has worked at a variety of high-tech and biotech companies, including AVI BioPharma, and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration at Portland State University. After being diagnosed with diabetes in 1993, Mr. Ahmed tapped into his software engineering background and developed a diabetes self-management program for his hand-held computer. The system, which he originally designed for personal use, soon evolved into two diabetes management software applications: Diabetes Partner™ and CliniPro®. His one-man operation quickly grew into a company called NuMedics, Inc., serving over 350 hospitals and clinics across the United States with our various products. He continues to be recognized for his innovation—most recently—as a speaker for the (2010) Annual International Diabetes Summit in Dubai, UAE.

Gordon D. Barker, Director
Mr. Barker served as the Chief Executive Officer of QVL Pharmacy from 2005 to 2009. From October 1999 to 2004 he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Snyder's Drug Stores Inc. He served as the Principal of Barker Enterprises from January 1997 to September 1999. From March 1968 to December 1996, Mr. Barker served at Thrifty PayLess Drug Stores, Inc., where he served as Pharmacist, Chief Executive Officer and President and was instrumental in negotiating its merger with Rite-Aid Drugs. Mr. Barker serves on a number of corporate and non-profit boards, including the Board of Chancellors of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Washington State University.

Darlene Cain, Secretary
Ms. Cain has served as Chairwoman and Director of The American Diabetes Association since November 2006. She serves as Vice Chair of the Research Foundation Board Officers & Directors of the American Diabetes Association. Ms. Cain is also the ADA's National Liaison to the Order of the Amaranth, providing a conduit and raising awareness of this all-volunteer organization that has raised millions in research grants to find a cure for diabetes since 1972. Ms. Cain's many distinguished honors include the ADA's National Fundraiser of the Year award in 1996 and the ADA's Addison B. Scoville Award for National Volunteerism in 2001. She holds a B.S. in Education from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

Stephen M. Telfer, Director
Principal of The Telfer Company, a government and public relations firm specializing in Healthcare, Mr. Telfer joined the healthcare field in 1987, as Vice President of Good Samaritan Hospital and Health Center in Portland. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the Legacy Health System and held several executive management positions with Legacy. His responsibilities included government relations, marketing and public and media relations. He also managed Legacy's presence with business and civic groups. Mr. Telfer possesses 25 years of service in various executive positions with local government in Oregon and Washington. He has served on the boards of several public organizations, as Chairman of Oregon Public Employees' Retirement System, Vice Chairman of the Oregon Investment Council, Member of the Board of Directors of Associated Oregon Industries, and is a Member of the Oregon Workers' Compensation Management Labor Advisory Committee. He graduated from University of Washington with a degree in Construction Management and completed his graduated work in Public Administration.
